Dave Reynolds Earns MAC All-Tournament Honors

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio - Following the conclusion of Saturday's MAC Championship Game, Northern Illinois first baseman Dave Reynolds (Orland Park, Ill./Sandburg) was named to the league's All-Tournament team. The sophomore first baseman was the tournament's third-leading hitter and recorded the second-highest slugging percentage. NIU's lone representative on the squad, Reynolds hit .462 and slugged 1.077 with two home runs, two doubles, five RBI and four runs scored as the team went 2-2 and finished in a tie for third in Chillicothe. He began the tournament with three RBI on two doubles in the Huskies' 13-7 win over Ball State in the first round. Reynolds homered in consecutive games, first against Kent State, when he totaled two hits, and in the Huskies' dramatic 6-5 ninth-inning come-from-behind victory in an elimination game vs. Ball State. He went 1-for-2 in NIU's final game at the tournament against Kent State. For the year, Reynolds hit .294 with seven home runs and 38 RBI. His home run totaled tied for second best and his RBI total was fourth for Northern Illinois, who finished 28-26. Reynolds joins pitcher Matt German (2007), outfielder Eric Sansouci (2004) and infielder Joe Mazzuca (2003) as Huskies who have received honors at the league tournament. Eastern Michigan, who defeated Kent State 12-4 in the MAC Championship Game, led with four players on the 10-player squad. -NIU-
